Edgemont City Council Holds Regular Meeting

By Aaron Eberle
On December 1, the Edgemont City Council met at 7 p.m.
Deputy Josh Buckwheat was present to give the law enforcement report. A few questions were asked about the law enforcement report.
Councilwoman Barb Strozewski asked about the mental case issue on 710 Seventh Avenue. Buckwheat reported that in that instance, they transport the subject to Rapid City Regional for mental evaluation. Councilwoman Sandra Woodward was uncertain about the address. After some discussion, it was decided that it was the back parking lot of Hillcrest.
Strozewski asked about the civil matter on 901 Fourth Avenue. The only thing Buckwheat had to add was that it involved the bridge crew.

Woodward asked how they were coming on some of the cases that they were involved in. Buckwheat responded that they thought they were getting closer, but Deputy Martha Jarman would know more. Jarman will be back on duty soon.
Woodward reported that the Public Works crew had been busy with different things over the past two weeks.
Benjamin Elliott, Independent Audit Services, in Madision, submitted a bid of $5,000 to the city to audit for 2013 and 2014. This was approved by the council.
Finance officer, Karen Cain, submitted a proposal from Banyon Assistance. This is what Cain uses for budgeting, billing and other things. She would like to upgrade. This program will also help Rheta Regan with permits, pet and business licenses, as well as violations or other things she may need.
Councilwoman Brenda Cullen wondered what the price of this upgrade would be. Cain was not sure of the pricing on the upgrade for Reagan yet. She would let the council know as soon as she knows.
A basic water treatment class is being offered in January at Spearfish. Public Works Foreman, Joe Koller and Kyle Keiser would like to attend. This would be the first of many trainings that they would have to take to be certified. Council approved to send them.
The next regular meeting of the council will be December 15 at 7 p.m.
