The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced today an extension of the public comment period through May 5, 2016. The public comment period on the draft document began on October 28, 2015. VA BHHCS decided to extend the public comment period in response to stakeholder requests for additional time to review and write comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) regarding the reconfiguration of the Black Hills Health Care System.
“VA is committed to providing our Veterans with the timely, high-quality care and services they have earned and deserve,” said Sandra Horsman, Director, VA Black Hills Health Care System. “Throughout the entire reconfiguration discussion we’ve been grateful for the input of Veterans and our stakeholders. We recognize that public comments are an essential part of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) process and we’re pleased to offer more time to hear from as many people as possible.”
The DEIS document and additional resources are available for download on the VA BHHCS webpage at: www.blackhills.va.gov/vablackhillsfuture. The document is also available at the following public libraries: Hot Springs, Rapid City Downtown, Sturgis, Chadron, Alliance, Lied Scottsbluff, and Pierre (Rawlins Municipal) public libraries; as well as in Pine Ridge at the Oglala Lakota College Pine Ridge Center library on the high school campus.
