Mary-Ann Hadlock

Mary-Ann Louise Hadlock, age 75, of Custer, passed away April 5, 2016, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital in Rapid City.
Mary was born June 19, 1940, in Cottonwood, to Ernest and Marjorie (Weber) Neumann. She was one of six children. After the death of her father, at the age of 13, Mary went to work to help support her siblings and get them through school. She worked in the area around Wall, Wasta and Cottonwood where she met her husband, Ray, in 1954. They were married July 19, 1958, in Custer. Mary worked in the area babysitting, waiting tables, cooking and nearly anything to get them by. Mary and Ray were blessed with six children.
Mary enjoyed hunting for rocks, stumps, building wire trees and making pillows. She loved going dancing; drives through the forest and listening to Ray and her kids play music. Mary never met a stranger.
Mary is survived by her husband Ray of Custer; children, Raymon “Bill” Hadlock of Rapid City; Bob (Cheryl) Hadlock of Custer; Linda Hadlock of Hot Springs; Mary “Deneice” (Jon) Knight of French Town, Mont.; Dusty (Jen) Hadlock of Custer; Tracy (Becky) Hadlock of Newcastle, Wyo.; sister, Bonnie McFarland of Calif.; brothers, Dale Neumann of Calif., George Neumann of Calif.; 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Virginia Tanner; brother, Jim Neumann, and granddaughter, Cassie Hadlock.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Custer with Rev. Dr. J. Edwin Coates officiating.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established in Mary’s name to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Toby Coates

Toby Coates, 77, passed away March 24, 2016.
Toby was born to Art and Dorathy (Evens) Ludwig in Denver, Colorado on November 1, 1938. She attended grammar school and moving to Edgemont, South Dakota with her parents where she attended high school, graduating in 1956. While in high school she dated Bob Coates who would later be her husband. Toby married Bob on April 9, 1957.
Bob was in the Air Force and Toby immediately became a military wife, which she enjoyed as Bob moved from base to base for the next 22 years. In 1958 she was blessed with a son Roburt on May 29, and later with a beautiful daughter Lisa on January 3rd, 1962. With her family complete, she accompanied Bob on his military assignments, living at many locations around the US.
Toby’s family was her life especially with an addition of two grandsons, Danny, who was never really in her life due to a divorce and Steven who loved his Grandma with an unconditional dedication.
Toby’s health began to fail and she required major surgery at Mayo clinic and was treated in Rapid City, SD, until her health finally took her life. She was looking forward to her 59th Wedding Anniversary on April 9.
Leaving to mourn her death are her husband Bob, and her children Roburt and Lisa plus her grandchildren, and a host of life long lasting friends.
Preceding her in death were her Mother, Father and Brother.
