Jane Anne Anderson, 88

Jane Anne Anderson, 88, of Hot Springs, SD, passed on to her heavenly home March 20, 2018, at Fall River Hospital in Hot Springs.  

Jane was born January 21, 1930, at the farm home of her parents, Don and Lucy (Emerson) Leete in Volga, Iowa.  She attended rural school and then Volga High School.  After her junior year she went to Sioux Falls to nanny for Walter Ellenbecker family.  They asked her to stay on and she finished her senior year at O’Gorman High.  She then earned her nurses training at McKennan Hospital.  She continued working in Sioux Falls where she met and married Melvin Anderson on June 15, 1956, at St. Joe’s Cathedral in Sioux Falls.  Melvin died June of 1982.  Six children were born to this union, William of Nisland, SD; Thomas (deceased 11-11-1979); Joseph (stillborn 1961); Donald of Hot Springs; Diane Bonde of Torrington, WY; Douglas of Hermosa, SD. 

Jane was a devoted, hard working wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She worked as a night nurse for many years at the VA hospital in Hot Springs.  She was totally dedicated to caring for her son, Donald, who was afflicted with MS.  In her free time she loved working in her yard and was always baking cookies.  She enjoyed her retired nursing group and keeping in touch with them.  Jane was a devoted member of her church.  She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Jane was preceded in death by Melvin, two sons, her parents, and a sister Donna Edman in 1987.

She is survived by her sons, William (Diane) Anderson; Douglas (Wendy) Anderson; Donald Anderson; daughter, Diane Bonde;  grandchildren, Danielle Bonde of Rapid City; Dylan (Emily) Bonde of Casper, WY; Randi Anderson of Brookings, SD; Toni (Tyler) Long and Keri Anderson all of Belle Fourche, SD;  great grandchildren, Teddy and Tommy Long and Alexa Anderson; dear friends Marvin and Donna Hammer; four sisters; four brothers; and many nieces and nephews.

Vigil service will be held 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018, will be held at St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2018, at St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church in Hot Springs with Fr. Grant Gerlach as Celebrant.  Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.

 

Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
