Rodeo News 6-25-15

In Pro Rodeo News:
At the Sturgis Wild West Days in Sturgis, J.B. Lord, won the all-around title, while competing in steer wrestling and team roping. Lord while competing in the team roping with Levi Lord, placed second with a time of 6.0 seconds. Ryan Elshere placed fifth in the saddle bronc riding with 71 points. In the tie-down roping, Clint Kindred placed third with a time of 9.7 seconds. Kristi Steffes placed third in the barrel race with a time of 15.62 seconds. Lisa Lockhart and Lindsey O’Keeffe, tied for eighth and ninth with a time of 15.81 second. In the second round of steer roping, Tyrel Taton placed first, with a time 11.1 seconds. Ora Taton placed fourth in the average, with a time of 38.2 seconds.
At the Ben Johnson Memorial Steer Roping, Bryce Davis and Jess Tierney tied for second and third, with a time of 13.5 seconds. In the finals, Ora Taton placed second, with a time of 19.6 seconds. In the average, Ora Taton placed first, with a time of 74.5 seconds on four head.
At the Crazy Horse Stampede in Custer, Jake Costello and Ty Manke tied for second and third in the saddle bronc riding with a score of 76 points. Chad Ferley placed fourth in the saddle bronc riding with a score of 75 points.
In high school rodeo news:
At the regional high school rodeo in Sturgis, Alyssa Lockhart place eleventh in the barrel racing average, with a time of 35.322 seconds. Lockhart also placed third in the goat tying average with a time of 17.10 seconds and first in the pole bending average with a time of 43.43 seconds.
Mykelsi Schnose placed fourteenth in the break-a-way average with a time of 40.286 seconds. Schnose, with partner, Karlee Peterson, Sturgis, placed seventh in the team roping average, with a time of 23.02 seconds, on one head.
Courtney Peters placed third in the break-a-way average, with a time of 3.17 seconds, on one head. Cassidy March placed ninth in the average, with a time of 3.87 seconds, on one head. March also placed ninth in the girl’s cutting average with a score of 133 points, eleventh in the pole bending average with a time of 45.285 seconds and ninth in the reined cow horse average with a score of 197 points. March, with team roping partner, Ashlee Kritenbrink, also placed twelfth in the average with a time of 42.19 seconds, on one head.
Miles Englebert placed first in the bull riding average with 128 points. Englebert also place fourth in the second round of saddle bronc riding, as well as fifth in the average, with a score of 54 points, on one head. Rowdy Hughson split fourth and fifth in the bull riding average, with a score of 66 points, on one head. Hughson also placed second in the steer wrestling average, with a time of 51.10 seconds.
Lathen Stevens placed second in the second go of the saddle bronc riding and placed fourth in the average, with a score of 57 points, on one head. Stevens also placed third in the team roping average, with partner, Hanna Hostutler, Midland, with a time of 30.46 seconds. Stevens also placed fifth in the tie-down average, with a time of 39.44 seconds.
Grady Egly placed fourth in the steer wrestling average, with a time of 14.28 seconds, on one head. Egly also won the team roping average, with his partner, J.D. Kirwan, with a time of 28.97 seconds and placed second in the tie-down average with a time of 29.87 seconds.
Lathan Lauing, of Oral, placed eighth in the steer wrestling average, with a time of 38.16 seconds, on one head. Lauing also placed second in the team roping average, with partner, Carson Johnston, with a time of 29.43 seconds and won the tie-down average, with a time of 27.64 seconds.
