Vermillion is the new home to the SD HS All-Star Football Game, presented by Sanford in the DakotaDome, Vermillion, July 9. This is the first year that the game is outside of Aberdeen, where it has been for the last 30 years.
“We are so excited to have the SD High School All-Star Game be moved to Vermillion and we’re honored to take on the challenge of taking this once in a life time experience to the next level!” said Nate Welch.
84 players and 9 coaches from across the state are going to experience an All-Star event like they’ve never had before. They will receive a backpack filled with customized items including their own personalized souvenir jersey. They will be housed in air-conditioned dorms, well fed by area catering, entertained with events (hog-roast, pool party, National Music Museum tour, paintball, BBQ feast, archery activities and a formal recognition banquet, featuring guest speaker Joe Glenn, former head coach USD Coyote Football) all ending with the pinnacle of their High School career, by playing in the DakotaDome under their new giant videoboard.
Congratulations to all of these 2016 South Dakota Football All-Stars. Players from Fall River County are Lathen Stevens, Edgemont and Preston Benford Hot Springs.
The game will be aired July 13 on the South Dakota Public Broadcast System.
Congratulations to Lathen and Preston!
