PROCEEDINGS: HS School District 23-2 July 25, 2018

Proceedings

Board of Education of The Hot Springs District No. 23-2

President Kim Henningsen called the Special Board Meeting of the Hot Springs School Board to order at 5:02 p.m. on Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the Administrative Conference Room with the following members present: Nicole Shaw, Frances Stokes and Mark Walton. Absent Members were Dustin Kleinsasser. Others present: Kevin Coles, Deb Ollerich, and community members.

All actions recorded in these minutes were by unanimous vote unless otherwise stated.

19.32 Superintendent Coles asked to remove the oath of office for Stachia Walker on the agenda. He has received a letter of resignation from Stachia Walker indicating that she will be moving out of district at the end of August and as such she will not be able to serve on the board. Because of the various ways a vacancy on the board can be created, which include the member-elect not taking the oath of office, the person not being a resident of the district, and the person resigning. He recommends checking with the school attorney on how the board should address the vacancy because the laws which deal with filling a vacancy relate specifically to how the vacancy was created.

19.33 Stokes moved to approve the agenda as presented and to remove Oath of Office for New Board Member. Walton seconded and the motion carried 4/0.

19.34 No public participation.

19.35 No Conflict Disclosures.

19.36 Motion by Walton, seconded by Stokes to approve the quote for the vaporizer from Rasmussen Mechanical Services for $27,067.00. Motion carried 4/0.

19.37 Motion by Walton, seconded by Stokes to approve having the vocational teacher and his classroom students to do the repair project of replacing the cement and cutting asphalt where the old tank was removed as a learning experience. Motion carried 4/0.

19.38 President Henningsen asked for a motion to adjourn at 5:21 pm. Walton made the motion. Stokes seconded. Motion carried 4/0.
