The Sandstone Singers and SOUL are two of the six acts scheduled to perform at this concert next Friday night, Feb. 22.
HOT SPRINGS -- The Hot Springs Area Chamber of Commerce and Chautauqua Artisans Market invite the public to attend the “Beat the Winter Blues” concert on Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Mueller Civic Center in Hot Springs. Admission will be $5 at the door, with no advance tickets and general seating.
The concert was created for two express purposes, says Chamber Director Olivia Mears, to “pay it forward” to the musicians who volunteered their time to perform along the downtown during the Fall River Hot Air Balloon Festival this past August, and to offer the public something fun to attend in the midst of winter.
Group acts performing include the local gospel vocal group Sons of Unending Light (SOUL) will perform a set of classic gospel songs, and Hot Springs’ women’s vocal choir, Sandstone Singers will perform a medley of 20th century pop standards.
In addition, solo performers Wyatt Ellis, Terry Deines, Maria March and Steve Thorpe will highlight an exciting mix of original songs and covers throughout the evening as well. Ellis will perform on both violin and piano at points during his performance, while Deines will please the crowd with country & oldies tunes. March and Thorpe will both highlight some of their best original material, showcasing home-grown South Dakota songwriting talent.
All proceeds from the affordable admission will be divided among the acts so the Chamber encourages the public to come out and fill the house and plan for a full evening of entertainment for the whole family. Concessions at intermission will be provided by Chautauqua Artisans Market to benefit their programs as well.
