EDGEMONT – Organizers of this past weekend’s 1969 Edgemont High School’s 50th Class Reunion said they had a great turnout from the class, which consisted of 45 students.
Marie Andersen said a total of 31 classmates plus spouses and guests attended the event, in conjunction with the annual Fall River County Fair, which put the grand total at over 70 people. She added that some of those attending were classmates who had moved before their senior year. She also said that nine classmates have also deceased.
As part of the festivities leading up to the reunion, there was a challenge issued by Keith and Marie Andersen to the EHS Classes of 1968 and 1969 to see which group of alumni could raise the most money for the school’s new track/football complex currently under construction. That challenge concluded on Friday night, Aug. 2, when the Class of 1968 was named the winner.
An approximate $140,000 is still needed to complete the project, and this challenge netted $6,743.00 for the sport’s complex. The Class of 68 won the challenge with $4,222, while the Class of 69 earned $2,521. One classmate, Chuck Schutter, donated the memorial for his wife who passed away recently.
“What a wonderful thing to do,” said Marie Andersen. “Sue Schutter was a huge Edgemont Mogul fan and everyone loved her as much as she loved the Moguls.”
