Margorie W. Grabow, born December 30, 1919, passed away January 1, 2016.
She was born to Anna A. (Stielow) and Wilford H. Martinson. She was the oldest of 7 children: Don, Joyce (Hey), Wrey, Gene, Kenny, and Dorothy (Dibble).
Marge graduated from Edgemont High School and served in the US Army as an RN. She married George Grabow and they had three children: Tom, Sandy (Sites), and Anne (Trotter).
She was a long time resident in the Edgemont and Custer Areas. She and George owned and operated the Victory Bar and Steakhouse for many years. She was a dedicated volunteer in the community for various organizations such the American Legion Auxillary, St. James Catholic Church, Edgemont Ambulance, and many others.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and burial will be held at the Custer Cemetery where she will be laid to rest near her husband George Grabow and her daughter Anne Trotter.
William E. Morrison, age 97, formerly of Edgemont, SD, passed away on January 1, 2016, at the Seven Sisters Nursing Home in Hot Springs, SD.
William was born in Mesa, AZ, on June 8, 1918, to Raynor and Loretta (Scott) Morrison. He worked for the Railroad Company over many years as a Railroad Conductor, retiring in 1972. William was a Boxer for the United States National Guard. He was an avid fisherman, loved camping, rock hunting, and fudge. William will be dearly remembered for his large heartedness and generosity towards those in need.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Helen (Roller) Morrison and son, William Russell Morrison.
William is survived by his daughters, Rhonda (W.Lee) Gillispie of Edgemont, SD; Lola (Les Haines) Morrison of Edgemont, son, Jim (Gwenda) Morrison of Rapid City, SD; 9 grandchildren, Kim; Don; Trina; Andrew; Paul; Rick; Brian; Ben; Daniel; 17 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2016, at the United Church in Edgemont with Pastor Tom Peacock officiating. Interment will follow at a later date.
A memorial has been established in William’s name to benefit the Edgemont Senior Citizens Center.

Bertha Duerson, 92, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away on December 24, 2015, at the Hospice House in Rapid City, SD.
Bertha was born on April 21, 1923, to Joseph Brewer and Hazel (Hart) Allen at the family homestead south of Pringle, SD. She attended country school and worked at cafes in the Custer and Hot Springs area before she married LeRoy Duerson on January 12, 1952, in Cheyenne, WY. The couple returned to South Dakota and took over the Duerson family ranch in 1960.
In 1995, Bertha and LeRoy retired to Hot Springs where they were active in the Senior Center and the United Churches congregation. The couple resided at Pine Hills Retirement Community since 2011.
Bertha is survived by her husband of 63 years, LeRoy; daughter, Sherrie (Bob) Bosse of Vermillion, SD; brother, Orval Allen of Sutherlin, OR; sister, Josie Baird of Oakland, OR; sister-in-law Marie Underwood of Hot Springs as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Genevieve and Charity; six brothers, Charles; Robert; Joe; Fred; Emery and Stan.
Funeral services were held December 30, 2015, at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs with Pastor Clint Walker officiating. Interment followed at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.
A memorial has been established in Bertha’s name to benefit the Rapid City Regional Hospice House in Rapid City.
Jerry Lee Jirsa, age 61, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away at his home on December 28, 2015.
Jerry was born on September 15, 1954, in Mason City, IA, to Lester and Geneale (Shaffner) Jirsa. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1972-1976. Jerry worked for the BNSF Railway Company as a Railroad Engineer.
Jerry is survived by his son, Max (Cassia) Jirsa of Hot Springs; step-daugher, Cari (Dave) Reid of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren, Brodi Jirsa; Eli Jirsa; Ashley Goddard; Shelby Reid; Bailey Reid; and Arinna Reid.
A celebration of life was held January 1, 2016, at The Vault in Hot Springs.
