Casey Allen Chord, 57, passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, in Phoenix.
Casey was born Jan. 15, 1957, in Cheyenne, WY, to Everett Ellsworth Chord and LaVera Sundstrom. He graduated from Edgemont High School in 1975 and South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1979. Casey relocated to the Phoenix area in 1981, and married Kari Cunningham in 1986.
Casey worked as an aeronautics engineer for Honeywell Aerospace, retiring in 2000 due to his medical condition. Before retiring, Casey traveled to Egypt, Israel, Germany and France, as well as multiple locations within the United States. Teaching guitar and music theory, Casey played guitar for his church, and pursued many other artistic endeavors.
Casey is survived by his mother, LaVera Sundstrom-Chord; his wife, Kari Chord; daughter, Joyce (Richard) Gallagher; sister, Peggy (Lance) Hubbard; and grandchildren, Vincent-Riley, Celeste, Micah and Mina Gallagher.
He was preceded in death by his father; and a grandchild, Taylor.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis, SD, with Pastor Richard Chord officiating.
