William Dean ‘Bill’ Hacker, 88, of Hot Springs, SD, passed away February 25, 2018, surrounded by family at his daughter’s home.
Bill was born November 8, 1929, in Hot Springs to Dean and Mildred (Merrill) Hacker. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and S.D. National Guard. Bill enjoyed large family gatherings and picnics. He was an avid hunter and storyteller.
Bill is survived by his children, Bev Johnson (Victor Gerber) of Cheyenne, WY; Anna Amos of Cheyenne, WY; Robert Hacker of Rapid City, SD; Art (Nila) Hacker of Aberdeen, SD; Dee Ann Loyd of Hot Springs; Richard (Laurie) Hacker of O’Neil, NE; Gina (Jason) Esche of Hot Springs; Ruth Kazmer of Rapid City; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Julianna; two sons, Leonard and Charles; six grandchildren and parents.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2018 at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2018, at Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs with Pastor Gary Jacobsen officiating. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.
A memorial has been established in Bill’s name to benefit the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Hot Springs.
Arrangements have been placed in the care of Chamberlain McColley’s Funeral Home in Hot Springs.
