EDGEMONT - Some say lightning can’t strike twice. Perhaps those people are speaking of life’s misfortunes and bad luck because for one Edgemont resident, lightning has indeed struck twice. 

According to weatherimagery.com the odds of getting struck by lightning in the U.S. in any single year is 1 in 700,000. We aren’t sure if those same odds apply to trees but one can assume that Edgemont resident George Eberle’s tree is not so...

Debate over Edgemont city ordinance enforcement continues

HOT SPRINGS – While the book on the ‘Chilson Bridge Saga’ is still a few years from being closed, at least now the vast majority of county residents, county commissioners and state officials are on the same page and in agreement with a preferred ending to the story.

Miss South Dakota Week hits Hot Springs!

HOT SPRINGS – For the 72nd year, the Miss South Dakota Scholarship Pageant will take place in Hot Springs this week as the 2018 contestants hit the stage of the Mueller Civic Center Theater for the next three nights.

Airport's family "fly-in" day a big success

HOT SPRINGS – The first-ever “Fly In Family Fun Day” this past Saturday, June 2, at the Hot Springs Airport was a high-flying success on most all accounts, despite strong winds in the Southern Hills preventing a few of the planned activities to take place.

Its estimated that around 200 people attended the event, which included a walk-in hot air balloon, a fly-over flour drop for the kids, glider rides, Civil Air Patrol booth, breakfast served by the Fall River...
